The Local Content Advisors (LCA) are employed by the Department of Primary Industry and Regional Development. They have been appointed to support industry and businesses in achieving the objectives of the WAIPS and the Aboriginal Procurement Policy.  Local Content Advisors can assist with:

• Understanding how to sell to government entities
• Find assistance to build supply chain capability and capacity
• Identify upcoming government supply opportunities
• Identify State and Federal Government financial assistance programs
• Understand your rights and responsibilities under the Western Australian Jobs Act 2017 and the Western Australian Industry Participation Strategy
• Facilitate connecting head contractors with subcontractors
• Participate in productivity and business capability activities

Four new rounds of the Local Capability Fund (LCF) have opened for 2019-20: Aboriginal Business, the Future Battery Industry and the Western Australian Industry Participation Strategy (WAIPS) and METRONET Railcar Procurement.

The purpose of the LCF is to assist small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Western Australia to increase their capability and competitiveness as suppliers of products, services and works to the Western Australian State Government, major projects and other important markets.

New Industries and Regional New Industries Fund

The State Government's Regional New Industries Fund will provide grants across the nine regions of Western Australia to support venture creation, accelerate small-medium enterprise growth and seed innovation initiatives.

Development Commission 

The objectives of the Regional Development Commissions (RDCs) are to: maximise job creation and improve career opportunities in the region; develop and broaden the economic base of the region; identify infrastructure services needed to promote economic and social development within the region; provide information and advice to promote business development within the region; seek to ensure that the general standard of government services and access to those services in the region is comparable to that which applies in the metropolitan area; and generally take steps to encourage, promote, facilitate and monitor the economic development in the region.

Small Business Development Corporation WA

The WA Small Business Development Corporation (SBDC) has a team of business advisers who provide free information, advice and guidance to business intenders and those already operating a small business in WA. The SBDC’s services include:

• commercial tenancy support
• dispute resolution
• virtual networking group

Winun Ngari Aboriginal Corporation (WNAC) is a community development provider for remote Aboriginal communities in West Kimberley. In addition to serving communities in and around Derby, WNAC serve several remote communities located along the Gibb River Road, and Looma (including surrounding communities). The support WNAC provides to remote communities differs from community to community, however services include enterprise and business development, employment and training, health and well-being and governance and administration.

KAC manages a small village of several families in the town of Leonora, north of Kalgoorlie. A shortage of housing led KAC to explore the option of renovating currently uninhabitable dwellings. In addition to better housing options, local people will also benefit from training opportunities in building and construction.
