Inaugural Horizon Power Managing Director Rod Hayes has resigned from his role leading the State's regional electricity provider.
Mr Hayes took up the role in January 2006 prior to the disaggregation of Western Power in March 2006.
Under Mr Hayes' stewardship Horizon Power has significantly improved the quality and reliability of electricity supplies in towns and communities across regional Western Australia.
Mr Hayes intends to stay in Western Australia and will pursue a range of private sector opportunities.
Horizon Power Chairman Brendan Hammond said it was with regret that he accepted Mr Hayes' resignation and that the business had enjoyed a period of sustained success under his leadership.
"Over the past four and a half years the business has grown from strength to strength," Mr Hammond said.
"Rod's legacy is an organisation and body of staff that is able to look beyond the corporate-speak of "triple bottom line" to actually live and breathe its intent in a tangible and lasting way.
"As a board and as a business we wish him every success with his plans for the future," he said.
