Local civil contractor wins Exmouth depot upgrade works

Long awaited improvements to Horizon Power’s Exmouth depot are a step closer to being realised, with local contractor Exmouth Civil winning the contract to refurbish the energy provider’s laydown yard.

Exmouth Civil will enhance the yard’s functionality by improving the surface, access ways and drainage, and by removing derelict structures and debris from the site. The works will be the first of several upgrades to be made to facilities in Exmouth and Carnarvon, and are expected to be completed by February 2021.

The project is being delivered as part of Horizon Power’s Renew the regions program, a portfolio of investments being delivered to support the State Government’s WA Recovery Plan.

Horizon Power General Manager Operations, Tiri Sanderson, said she was pleased the project would deliver on Horizon Power’s strategic commitment to put the regions first by engaging with local contractors and service providers.

“We are excited to get this project underway, to ensure we continue to provide our Horizon Power people and contractors with safe workplaces that allow them to deliver the best possible outcomes to our customers, and so we can reinvest in our regional economies,” Ms Sanderson said.

“Pushing forward with the Exmouth and Carnarvon depot works means we can improve the storage, functionality and customer operations at our Gascoyne facilities, and we are looking forward to working with Exmouth Civil to deliver this.”

Over the next 18–24 months, Horizon Power will deliver 18 projects across more than 110 sites, improving energy services, access to green energy and creating local jobs and business opportunities across regional WA.
