Horizon Power is spending more than $60 million to deliver 18 energy projects across more than 110 sites throughout regional WA, as part of its work to help renew the regions and support WA’s economic recovery.
Members of the Horizon Power team recently visited Derby for the first in a series of community information sessions being held across its service area. The sessions aim to share project plans, key opportunities and benefits, and ways local people can participate.
General Manager Customer Experience Krystal Skinner who hosted the Derby event, said Horizon Power will hold sessions across the regions over the coming months to raise awareness of the program of works and how local service providers can be involved. “We are very excited to be accelerating our delivery of energy solutions for regional growth and vibrant communities, which will serve to rejuvenate communities for today and the future,” Krystal said.
“These community information sessions are important in helping us communicate what projects we are working to deliver, their potential benefit and how communities can partner with us and participate. This may be through local employment opportunities or provision of local services.
“Every dollar we spend will translate into jobs, the upskilling of our existing workforce, creating opportunities for local businesses or bridging the renewable energy technology gap for our regions. Some of the projects will also provide greater access to renewable energy options like solar, which will help reduce energy costs for regional customers.”
Krystal said the Derby event was well received, with more than 60 members of the general and business communities turning out to learn more.
