Works for the Pilbara Underground Power Project (PUPP) are progressing well in the Onslow Light Industrial Area (LIA), where crews are drilling in conduits, excavating trenches, installing cables and standing streetlights.
Work has now started in the residential streets of Second Ave, Third Ave, Cameron Ave and McGrath Ave now that work in the LIA is well underway.
Before civil works commenced in February, thorough planning and consultation with relevant authorities was carried out to confirm the location of existing underground assets. It is a top priority to protect the safety of employees and the public and to avoid damage to existing underground assets by ensuring proper planning takes place.
Horizon Power Manager Pilbara Network James Carney said: “We are working closely with our contractor Logsys to ensure that there is a smooth delivery of project works with minimal disruption to the community.”
What’s next?
Once civil works have been completed in the LIA, crews will progress works in the residential area.
Residents will be notified at least two to three weeks in advance of any planned works. Notifications will be a combination of hand-delivered letters, door knocks and information displayed on a noticeboard at the General Store.
Horizon Power would like to thank businesses in the LIA for their cooperation while this work takes place.
If you have any questions regarding the project or works on your property, please call the Horizon Power PUPP Access Controller on 9159 7253.
