Horizon Power is aiming to restore power by the end of today to the majority of Horizon Power customers who have been affected by stormy weather in Leonora and Esperance.
This morning, 25 Horizon Power customers in Leonora were still without power following stormy weather over the past two days.
No additional customers have been affected by the weather incidents.
The power outages occurred on Sunday when strong winds and lightning brought down powerlines resulting in 450 customers losing power.
Meanwhile, stormy condition in Esperance last night resulted in 35 customers without power in the Beaumont area and another 10 single customers to the north and west of Esperance are also without power.
Horizon Power Goldfields Esperance Retail and Community Manager Donna Gibson said it was hoped that power would be restored to the majority of customers today.
“The stormy conditions in Esperance, coupled with those in Leonora, have stretched our capacity but we are working as diligently as possible to restore customers’ power,” Ms Gibson said.
“We also have an additional crew working in Leonora together with external contractors.
“We can’t make any guarantees but the aim is to have power restored to the majority of our Leonora and Esperance customers later today.”
Leonora and Esperance residents are advised to stay at least 10 metres away from any fallen powerlines and report them to Horizon Power’s fault and emergency line on 13 23 51.
Householders who have been impacted by power outages lasting 12 hours or more may be eligible for compensation.
